The Music Computing Lab is a research group in The Open University’s School of Computing and Communications at Walton Hall, Milton Keynes. Combining musicology, psychology, ethnography, embodied cognition, mathematics and computing, it develops new interfaces for music creation and learning — tangible, multi-touch and haptic-feedback systems — alongside computational models of music perception (harmony and rhythm), instrument design, pattern-discovery algorithms, brain-controlled instruments and digital-health applications such as rehabilitation wearables. Its stated aim is ’empowering musicians, illuminating musical activities, and modelling music perception and cognition.’
